Daniel Vancsik second round 65. Total: 133 (-9)
My putter was definitely hot today. I was putting really well and had many chances for birdie. When you feel good about your putting, you get more confidence. I think I made three or four putts from 6-8 metres today. That really helped me. I felt good over the long approach putts. When I feel good about my putting I am more relaxed.
These greens are fast and I hope they will help me for the coming weeks ahead. I worked last year on my putting and that was the problem the last couple of months, but Ive had the feeling back the last few weeks.
I played a few events in Argentina over the winter and that was nice and relaxing. Often I play well in January and February but I decided that needs to change and I have to play well in the important months here in Europe. I played Portugal and went home for three weeks and came back for Girona. Now I go home after Wales.
I feel good. I think I would like another win. You need to play well for all four rounds. If you only play well for three rounds then it wont happen. I am relaxed and concentrating on my golf this weekend. I had a shoulder injury last year but the last three months has felt perfect. I just need to get more competitive. In the past Ive played well for two days then hitting it all over the place for two days. Now I feel more consistent. I am working on hitting the driver straighter. Hitting it long is okay but you need to put it on the fairway.
Gareth Maybin second round 70. Total: 134 (-8)
To be honest I didnt play so well today. Putted fairly well and chipped it well so Ill need to do some work on the range this afternoon to straighten the driver out. Obviously everything went well yesterday and although I didnt play so well today I got a few breaks and was glad to get out with a 70. Its all experience for me. The more you play, the more comfortable you feel and hopefully you play better as a result. I played in front of Molinari, Daly and Quiros and I caught some of their crowd which was nice. Dalys trousers? I think they are cool. Got for it! He has the character to pull it off.
Tee to green I wasnt really impressive. I had to work hard too hard. Usually you are going to have one of these rounds but hopefully I can straighten out the long game. Your expectations are higher after a 64 but I am happy enough to be in this position going into the weekend.Ive got a new Ping D66 and it hasnt missed too many at the moment.
Anthony Wall second round 67. Total: 135 (-7)
Ive played nicely. Only two bogeys, which is the secret. Things are looking good. The greens are lovely and if you find your pace, you shouldnt miss too much. If you dont like this place you shouldnt be playing golf. Overall the course is fabulous and its set up nicely. You have to shape the ball and the greens are fast. The last month I lost my way a bit and had a lesson last week after missing the cut. Worked on my posture, which had drifted. A big lump like me, it can happen and I was struggling. Went back to the basics with my coach Simon Holmes. It was the first thing we worked on last year and my hips were all over the place and we got them back in line. Im a big guy and I need my balance to be right.
The Chelsea Flower Show is on Monday but I cant get tickets for the Press Day and Royal Day on Monday. Its more the passion of my wife. I do the donkey work, the hard stuff. Its a big hobby of mine but its a real passion for her. Once the grass is cut on Monday I leave and get home and have to cut it again the following Monday! I cant go on Tuesday because its Wentworth week. I wish someone could find me two tickets and Id get a few Brownie points!!
John Daly second round 69. Total: 138 (-4)
Im pleased enough with that. I really didnt hit it that great today. I made a lot of par putts. I didnt hit it so good. I was happy to shoot even par on the back nine. The front nine has two or three holes you feel you can take advantage of. It played a little longer this morning but on this course if you hit the fairways you can score. The difficult bit if just making sure you hit them. We had a got time today. We fed off each other today. Francesco hardly missed a shot and Alvaro can pound them.
My pants? Its a lot of fun. I remember the days when Johnny Miller, Jack Nicklaus, some of the veterans from the seventies and eighties, they wore some stuff like this. Its kind of neat. Ive got 21-22 pairs with me. I dont think about it. I pile them up in the suitcase and just pull them out. Tomorrow wont be so loud but I will finish with a good pair. Yesterday could have been really low and today would have been really high.
Thomas Björn second round 67. Total: 138 (-4)
I hit a lot of fairways and a lot of greens. Didnt hole as many putts as I would have liked, but 67 is a good score. Its nice to play some decent stuff and hopefully it will carry on over the weekend and I can get myself in there. Its lovely here. Fantastic setting and great condition. Its got a shorter version of a US Open theme. A lovely golf course. Its always on my mind to do my best and if I can roll in a few putts there is no reason why I cant be in the mix on Sunday.
